Notice that every note in the first 7 measures, with the exception of the D# in measure 7, comes from the E minor pentatonic blues scale. All of the notes in the next measure of G (measure 10) are also from that scale, as are the notes in measure 12. Measure 13 combines notes from the E blues scale and the G blues scale, and then Charles ends the solo with a flurry of notes from the G blues scale.
