Year of the Jubilee

Arranged by Mickey Abraham

Hello and Welcome once again to Flatpicking Guitar Magazine’s free lesson portion of our monthly newsletter. This month I offer you a very cool and simple arrangement of the famous American Civil War song “Year of the Jubilee.”
For this lesson I decided to present the tune without a bunch of hot licks and filler. Once you get the tune under your fingers I feel you will be ale to add in your own connecting licks. The tune’s melody stands alone and is worth learning.
I enjoyed the way the tune played out of guitar C position. If you want to play along with the lesson mp3 you’ll have to put your capo at the second fret which will turn your C position into the ever popular key of D.
I hope you enjoy learning this classic American melody and adding to your list of flatpicking tunes. As always, if you have any questions or comments on this e-lesson just drop me a line at michabraham@comcast.net
